The 2018 Asian Games will be held in three cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Banten, and Palembang. Particularly for Jakarta, city government is currently speeding up the construction of facilities and infrastructures to support the implementation of the biggest sports even in Asia.

At first, they wanted two toll roads finished before the Asian Games. But, I pushed them to build all six toll roads

“Jakarta is far more ready, starting from its hotels, roads, infrastructures, et cetera. Palembang (government) also has promised to build roads, while we’re going to repair our (sporting) venues,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama, Saturday (8/16).

According to Basuki, two of the development projects accelerated are the six inner-city toll roads and Light Rail Transit (LRT) which construction works are expected to finish before the 2018 Asian Games is held.

“If the six inner-city toll roads project canceled, it would be replaced with ERP (electronic road pricing). Jakarta Provincial Government intends to build them ourselves. Not toll roads, but paid-roads, including LRT,” he uttered.

Basuki also disclosed that he has urged some state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and city-owned enterprises (BUMD) to speed up the construction of the six inner-city toll roads.
